“ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER” writer to produce “GREMLINS” remake?

There’s some sort of joke here about how talking about it is analogous to feeding the studio Mogwai, but it’s the remake machine and if it wants to eat, it will.

Bloody Disgusting is reporting they’ve got word that Warner Bros is going forward with a remake of Joe Dante’s Christmas creature classic, GREMLINS. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, DARK SHADOWS and ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER writer Seth Grahame-Smith is apparently producing with David Katzenberg (who’s also on the threatened BEETLEJUICE sequel).

Dante’s original, written by Chris Columbus, of course concerned Zach Galligan’s Billy Peltzer, whose new pet Mogwai comes with three rules which are all broken and proceed to unleash a mess of bad attitude-having vicious little monsters. It’s a wonderful movie and since getting aggravated about these things is truly an exercise in futility, we can hope for the best? [BD]
