Beware, “BLOB”! Samuel L. Jackson to star in the new remake

Who’s bad-ass enough to take on THE BLOB in the latest update of the 1958 classic? That question has now been answered.

Screen Daily reports that Samuel L. Jackson has joined the new remake of THE BLOB, which rolls this fall under CON AIR and THE EXPENDABLES 2 director Simon West. The Marvel movie regular, whose past creature features include JURASSIC PARK, DEEP BLUE SEA and SNAKES ON A PLANE, will play a biochemistry professor who takes on the formless alien monster that emerges from deep within the Earth to prey on a small town. Jack H. Harris, producer of the original film, encores on this edition, joined by Richard Saperstein, Brian Witten, Judith Parker Harris and Tae Won Chung.

“I have been waiting to work with Samuel L. Jackson my whole career,” West, who previously boarded the horror-remake train with 2006’s WHEN A STRANGER CALLS, tells the trade. “He is a unique talent in the industry, definitely one of a kind. I am so pleased that we will finally get to collaborate on this project.” Adds Pascal Degove of Goldcrest Films, which is behind this BLOB, “Samuel L. Jackson has a reputation for thrilling audiences in commercial movies that deliver real box office success—this is a huge boost to our distribution partners and just adds to the excitement that is building around the picture.” More casting for THE BLOB will be announced soon.
