Buttgereit returns with “GERMAN ANGST”, launching on Kickstarter

Its been nearly 20 years since German underground maverick Jörg Buttgereit (NEKROMANTIK) made a horror film, and now he returns with countrymen Andreas Marschall (MASKS) and Michal Kosakowski (ZERO KILLED) for GERMAN ANGST, which begins its fundraising on Kickstarter this Thursday, October 10th.

Fans of extreme horror have been clamoring for another Buttgereit film for years; in the meantime he’s been directing for the German/French co-pro reality TV show INTO THE NIGHT, which pairs cult celebrities for single night’s adventures, and also turned out the 2009 documentary MONSTERLAND in addition to directing horror and cult-centric stage plays (he discusses these in an interview we did with him in issue #323 – buy HERE) . But when Andreas Marschall was touring with his lush, disturbing Suspiria-inspired film MASKS in 2011/2012, he was constantly asked about Buttgereit’s return to big screen horror – and the seed for GERMAN ANGST was planted. The film also marks a continuing collaboration between the two: Marschall is a well-known graphic artist who’s done covers for numerous metal bands, and it was he who painted the notorious poster for the original NEKROMANTIK.

GermanAngst_Flyer_Front_low-resSynopses from the official press release:

The first episode, Jörg Buttgereit’s FINAL GIRL, tells the story of a young girl who lives alone with her guinea pig in a rundown apartment in Berlin. But is she really alone? In the bedroom lies a man, bound and gagged…

In the episode ALRAUNE by Andreas Marschall, a young man stumbles upon a secret sex club in Berlin’s nightlife that promises the ultimate sexual frontier experience by using a drug made from the roots of the legendary Mandragora plant. But the ecstatic experiences have horrific side effects…

MAKE A WISH by Michal Kosakowski is a disturbing fable in which a deaf-mute couple of Polish origin are attacked by a sadistic Neo-Nazi gang. In possession of a powerful amulet, the couple try to turn the tables on their assailants and wreak a terrible revenge, albeit paying a heavy price.

You can sponsor GERMAN ANGST on Kickstarter starting 10.10.2013 here. Prizes include limited signed editions and more. For more info visit www.german-angst.com or www.facebook.com/germanangstmovie
