While it may not be as big as STAR TREK or STAR WARS, DARK SHADOWS, the legendary, horror-themed daytime soap opera, remains a sizable cult franchise in its own right. During its 1960s heyday, DARK SHADOWS captivated an astonishing 20 million viewers a day. For many, the series was their introduction to a lifelong love of the horror genre. BARNABAS’ COLUMN (named after Barnabas Collins, DS’ resident bloodsucker) will look back at this unusual phenomenon, and keep fans updated on recent happenings regarding DARK SHADOWS.

Special thanks to Kevin G. Shinnick, publisher of Scarlet Magazine, for suggesting this column’s name. And to Wallace McBride of the Rondo Award winning Collinsport Historical Society for creating the banner.
