“CELL COUNT” creators venture into “DEEP DARK”

Having seen their sci-fi/horror feature CELL COUNT successfully tour the festival circuit and make it to distribution, the folks at Polluted Pictures are teaming with Vitamin M for a new chiller called DEEP DARK, to roll this summer.

Written and to be directed by Michael Medaglia, DEEP DARK is about Hermann, a failed sculptor on the brink of giving up, who finds a strange hole in a wall that talks to him in a female voice, and makes his dreams of success come true—but the presence within becomes possessive, then deadly. Todd E. Freeman, Jason Freeman and Lara Cuddy will represent Polluted Pictures on the production side. “I knew right away I wanted to work with Polluted Pictures on the project,” Medaglia says. “They approach problems as filmmakers first and as producers second, which is exactly the type of people I want on my side. There’s a great deal of practical, rubber-meets-the-road experience that comes from having already made several features here in Portland [Oregon], so I’m excited that they’ll lend that expertise to the team.”

Says Todd Freeman, who also has CELL COUNT 2 gearing up for production next winter, “DEEP DARK is sort of a dream project for us to be a part of. It not only combines the intense horror aspects as well as the dark comedy from our two most recent features, CELL COUNT and THE WEATHER OUTSIDE, but also marks our first film to be set entirely in Portland. We look forward to working with Michael on his amazing script and focusing solely on getting his vision onto the screen. As filmmakers, we hope to produce in a way that we would want producers to produce for us. Our only goal is to help Michael effectively tell the story that is on the page as well as get this insanely entertaining movie out into the world market.” Learn more about DEEP DARK at its official website and Facebook page.
