Danny Trejo returns to “FROM DUSK TILL DAWN” for TV versionMovies/TV,News Michael Gingold
The second season of El Rey Network’s FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES is preparing to unleash new supernatural frights, and one of them will be portrayed by a familiar face from the original feature film.
El Rey and Miramax have confirmed what we first reported here: Danny Trejo, who played Razor Charlie in the FROM DUSK TILL DAWN feature film and also appeared in the direct-to-video sequels, has joined the televersion as “The Regulator, a horrifying agent of evil who has been summoned to perform a deadly errand.” Trejo is a familiar face from the films of Robert Rodriguez (with whom he’s pictured above), who directed the first movie and is overseeing the series; their other projects together include DESPERADO and the MACHETE and SPY KIDS franchises.
Also added to the SERIES ensemble is Briana Evigan, who’s got solid genre cred from SORORITY ROW, MOTHER’S DAY, BURNING BRIGHT, the DEVIL’S CARNIVAL movies and TV’s FEAR ITSELF. She’s been cast as Sonja, “an American expatriate working as a tattoo artist in a Mexican mercado—who also has a sideline forging papers and passports out of her back room.”
Following up on the first season, which expanded on the vampiric scenario of the movie, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES takes its returning characters in new directions for the second round. The synopsis: “Season Two begins with our characters in their separate worlds—Santanico [Eiza González] and Richie [Zane Holtz] are outside Houston, living like Bonnie and Clyde; Seth [D.J. Cotrona] and Kate [Madison Davenport] are scraping by South of the Border; and Freddie Gonzalez [Jessie Garcia] is protecting his wife and young daughter in a Houston suburb. And Carlos Madrigal [Wilmer Valderrama] and Scott Fuller [Brandon Soo Hoo] emerge from the Titty Twister changed men. They will all come together once again—this time facing off against an even bigger threat.” The show has presences on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
