“DARK WAS THE NIGHT” creature feature to see the light; distrib news

After playing top horror festivals (Screamfest in Los Angeles and Scary Movies at New York City’s Lincoln Center), the monster movie DARK WAS THE NIGHT will be terrorizing wider audiences later this year.

Image Entertainment has announced that it has picked up North American distribution rights to DARK WAS THE NIGHT, with a multicity theatrical release planned for later this year. Directed by Jack Heller (who previously helmed ENTER NOWHERE and produced BAD MILO! and the upcoming CONDEMNED and SOME KIND OF HATE) from a Black List script by Tyler Hisel, the film stars THE STRAIN’s Kevin Durand as a small-town sheriff plagued by both personal demons and attacks by a mysterious creature. The cast also includes Lukas Haas, Bianca Kajlich, Sabina Gadecki, Heath Freeman, Steve Agee and Fango fave Nick Damici.

“Since we premiered at Screamfest, Mark and his team at Image have been passionate supporters of the film and of our company,” say Heller and Dallas Sonnier, who were among the producers. “The film is in very good hands and we are excited to bring this story to a wider audience.” See the trailer below, visit the movie’s official website and Facebook page and look for on-set coverage of DARK OF THE NIGHT at this site and in the pages of FANGORIA!
