David Cronenberg’s “THE BROOD” returns on extras-packed UK Blu-ray/DVD

Still one of David Cronenberg’s best-ever films, 1979’s THE BROOD makes its British Blu-ray debut this summer, accompanied by a bunch of bonus features that will also be available on DVD.

BROODUKBLURAYNEWSSecond Sight has announced that it will issue THE BROOD on both disc formats July 8. Oliver Reed stars as a controversial psychotherapist whose treatment of patient Nola Carveth (Samantha Eggar, pictured above) arouses the suspicions of her husband (Art Hindle)—who discovers that Raglan’s treatments have led Nola to literally birth the children of her rage. The discs’ anamorphic widescreen transfers will be accompanied by:

• “Meet the Carveths”: Hindle and actress Cindy Hinds interviewed by FANGORIA editor Chris Alexander

• “The Look of Rage”: Interview with cinematographer Mark Irwin

• “Producing THE BROOD”: Interview with producer Pierre David

• “Character for Cronenberg”: Interview with actor Robert A. Silverman

• “Cronenberg: The Early Years”: The writer/director discusses how he broke into filmmaking

Retail prices are £19.99 for the Blu-ray, £15.99 for the DVD.
