Demon Man walks goat in latest “LORDS OF SALEM” clip

Although we differ in opinion (I’m very much in the film’s corner), a friend pretty accurately described THE LORDS OF SALEM as a movie where its strange tendencies and scares all happen around the main character, as opposed to directly to. Sheri Moon Zombie’s Heidi is placed on an ever-descending journey where goofyweird, surreal images lurk in and out of frame; sometimes in full view, and sometimes just we know they’re there. Surprisingly, since their trailer was cut to look more standard VOD horror, Anchor Bay is selling these moments.

First they unleashed one of my favorites, the gawky beast above that just hangs out by Heidi as the power of red cross compels her (to raise her hands). Those in rural areas will find today’s clip passe, but I’m from the Northeast and despite our own brand of gonzo, I rarely see demon men in Barbour jackets walking pet goats.

In the film, the aforementioned Heidi, a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a “gift from the Lords.” Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the “Lords of Salem” returning for revenge on modern-day Salem?

THE LORDS OF SALEM is out in select cities including  New York, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, DC, Miami, Dallas, Houston and Detroit on April 19.
