“DRACULA” still in Year Zero

The long-gestating origin tale of Drac nay, Vlad, is finally looking to unfold.

Luke Evans (next seen in the upcoming Ryûhei Kitamura film NO ONE LIVES) is set to play the Count for genre-friendly producer Michael De Luca and director Gary Shore, THR reports. The film, previously titled DRACULA: YEAR ZERO and now just being called DRACULA—despite not being a retelling of the Stoker novel—will concern itself with Vlad as a young prince who, in an effort to save his family, becomes the first vampire.

Prior to Shore, who’s had the director’s seat since last year, DARK CITY’s Alex Proyas was to helm.
