“EVIL DEAD” remake team reunite for “A MAN IN THE DARK”

Director Fede Alvarez did what many considered a surprisingly fine job directing the new EVIL DEAD, and now he and the Ghost House Pictures team are reteaming on an original chiller that has snagged distribution.

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions announced that it has picked up worldwide release rights to A MAN IN THE DARK, which Alvarez is set to direct from a script he penned with EVIL DEAD writing partner Rodo Sayagues. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will produce; the synopsis: “Three teens who get away with perfectly planned home robberies have set their sights on one last payout that will get them out of crime forever. Their target: a reclusive blind man with a million dollars in hiding. When they break into his home, the tables are turned and they find themselves fighting for survival against a psychopath with secrets of his own.”

“We’re thrilled to be in business again with the creative team behind EVIL DEAD, and to back Fede on his next picture,” says Sony’s Steven Bersch. “He and Rodo [Sayagues] have crafted a screenplay that keeps you on the edge of your seat and we look forward to bringing the movie to audiences worldwide.” Stay tuned for further updates.
