EXCL: Trailer and home release news for Sebastián Silva’s tense “MAGIC MAGIC”

A frightening journey into psychosis and paranoia on vacation, Sebastián Silva’s MAGIC MAGIC totally unsettled at Sundance, and Fango is excited to present your first look at the film, along with news of U.S. release.

Hitting DVD August 6 from Sony, accompanied by a making-of featurette, MAGIC MAGIC finds Alicia (Juno Temple) far from home, “arriving in South America to vacation with her cousin, Sarah (Emily Browning). When Sarah is suddenly called away, Alicia is stuck on a remote island off Chile with three of Sarah’s friends, including Barbara (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Brink  (Michael Cera), an American exchange student with a sadistic streak. Bewildered, frightened, and unable to sleep, Alicia’s reality becomes a nightmare from which there is no waking. Ancient indigenous rites, disturbing animal behavior, and captivating hypnotic trances come together in an intense exploration into the darkest corners… when the games go too far, reality unravels with astonishing and deadly consequences.”

Juno Temple is stunning in this film. Backed by a bizarre, eerie turn from Cera, the tense, unsettling way Silva unfolds MAGIC MAGIC got me so, so good. You can find a full review right here, and the trailer below. Keep an eye on Fango for much more.
