Exclusive art/details: Jörg Buttgereit’s “DER TODESKING” U.S. Blu-ray and DVDebut

With both the NEKROMANTIK films now out on hi-def disc, Cult Epics is following up by issuing Jörg Buttgereit’s DER TODESKING on DVD and Blu-ray for the first time. We’ve got the exclusive info and cover art.

DER TODESKING (THE DEATH KING) will street June 9, featuring a new director-approved HD transfer from the original 16mm negative of the uncut, uncensored version, with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and 2.0 stereo soundtracks (German with optional English subtitles). The movie presents “seven stories on death and suicide, each taking place on a different day of the week, enframed by the decomposition of a human body.” Cult Epics adds, though it goes without saying, “Warning: extremely graphic.” The special features are:

• Audio commentary by Buttgereit and co-writer Franz Rodenkirchen
• New 2015 introduction by Buttgereit
• “The Making of DER TODESKING”
• Still photo gallery
• HD Buttgereit trailers
• Original motion picture soundtrack
• CORPSE F**KING ART, the complete hour-long shockumentary on Buttgereit’s films

The first 3,000 copies of the Blu-ray will include collectible artwork: a 25th-anniversary silver foil O-ring and a CORPSE F**KING ART postcard. Retail prices are $34.95 for the Blu-ray and $29.95 for the DVD.
