Exclusive: “BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO” gets a U.S. date

It’s gonna be a busy early summer for horror viewers thanks to IFC Films, which just confirmed to Fango that another of its most-awaited acquisitions, BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO, has a date to see the light of Stateside screens.

We got the scoop that BERBERIAN will debut June 14 in limited theatrical release, as well as on cable VOD, iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, SundanceNow.com, Xbox and PlayStation platforms. It precedes two other high-profile IFC releases: Franck Khalfoun’s MANIAC, starring Elijah Wood, which hits June 21, and Neil Jordan’s vampire pic BYZANTIUM, with Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan, arriving June 28. BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO, written and directed by Peter Strickland, is a giallo homage starring Toby Jones as an audio engineer who travels to Italy to work on a sex-and-murder opus, and slowly begins to lose his mind. Strickland talks up BERBERIAN in Fango #322, on sale later this month.
