Exclusive photos, poster: “soap opera/slasher” movie “HELL TOWN”

The slasher genre has been combined with all kinds of aesthetics over the years, and now it’s presented as a daytime drama in HELL TOWN. We’ve got the first news, a bunch of exclusive pics and the poster to share with you.

Directed by Steve Balderson (whose previous flicks include PEP SQUAD and FIRECRACKER) and Elizabeth Spear, HELL TOWN is structured as three consecutive mid-season episodes of a fictitious TV soap opera, complete with opening and closing credits. “The inspiration,” Balderson tells Fango, “comes from the Netflix model of the world. It’s so much fun to binge-watch an addictive show—especially serials involving catfights, cliffhangers and murder.”

The synopsis: “HELL TOWN follows the melodramatic antics of high-school seniors clashing over love, sex and betrayal. In the middle of all the one-sided infatuations, backstabbing bitchiness, bottled-up sexuality, sibling rivalry and general small-town angst, the “Letter Jacket Killer” is murdering students in a variety of sadistic ways. As the body count rises and the blood pools closer to home, it becomes clear that one of our main characters is the killer…but who? Everyone, from the Prom Queen and Shirtless Jock to the Nosey Geek and Super Bitch, is a suspect.”

HELL TOWN begins its festival tour this spring, and has been selected for the Crimson Screen Horror Film Fest, which runs May 15-17 in Charleston, SC. Look for more on HELL TOWN at this site soon!
