Exclusive: Renny Harlin’s “PASS” is go for U.S. release

The latest veteran director to tackle the vérité-horror format is Renny Harlin, whose THE DYATLOV PASS INCIDENT has been picked up and retitled for Stateside play. We have the scoop after the jump.

Fango got the exclusive word that IFC Films will release INCIDENT under the new moniker DEVIL’S PASS under its IFC Midnight banner August 23, in select theaters and via cable VOD, iTunes, XBox, PlayStation, Amazon Instant, Google Play, YouTube and SundanceNow.com. Scripted by Vikram Weet (a production veteran of numerous reality shows) and starring Holly Goss, Matt Stokoe, Gemma Atkinson, Richard Reid, Luke Albright and Ryan Hawley, the movie is based on a true incident in which nine Russian hikers disappeared in the Ural Mountains in 1959. Their bodies were subsequently found, some with extensive internal but no external damage, resulting in numerous theories about what happened to them. The film follows a pair of college students (Goss and Stokoe) who venture into the remote area of Russia to make a documentary about the case, and discover its frightening truth.
