Exclusive: Superior survival-horror film “BACKCOUNTRY” gets dated

One of Fango’s favorite films from last year’s festival circuit is headed for wider exposure this year, and we’ve got the scoop on when it’s coming.

IFC Films gave us the word that it will release BACKCOUNTRY in select theaters and on VOD/digital platforms March 20 under its IFC Midnight banner. The feature directorial debut of actor Adam MacDonald (who starred in David Morley’s home-invasion horror HOME SWEET HOME, among others) and inspired by true events, BACKCOUNTRY stars Missy Peregrym and Jeff Roop as a couple from the city who head up into the mountains for a camping trip, head off the beaten path and become the stalking prey of a large, hungry black bear. Eric Balfour and Nicholas Campbell co-star; see the trailer below and our review here.
