[Update] First clips focus on the humans of “PACIFIC RIM”

Surprise, Idris Elba is a badass. And so is Rinko Kikuchi

We’ve seen Kaiju. We’ve seen Jaegers. To be fair, we’ve also seen those powering the Jaegers with mind and body, but the first clip from PACIFIC RIM focuses in a bit more on some on-the-ground conflict between Charlie Hunnam’s Raleigh Becket and Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost (imagine if we all had such names). Anyway, guess who comes out on top? If you guess the mustached gentleman who played Luther and plans on cancelling the apocalypse, than you can be part of cancelling the apocalypse.

[UPDATE] The second clip from the film has just popped up and it seems very much in tandem, except its the great Rinko Kikuchi (THE BROTHERS BLOOM) letting Charlie Hunnam know what’s up, and much more physically. You can find that at MTV.

In PACIFIC RIM, Kaiju have risen from the sea and our last stand is a fleet of pilots and their massive mechs called Jaegers. Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Clifton Collins, Jr and Ron Perlman co-star.

On July 12, we’re cancelling the apocalypse. You coming? [Yahoo!]
