First “CRIMSON PEAK” Image Surfaces

Out of all the films releasing in 2014, there’s few that are as anticipated among the horror crowd as CRIMSON PEAK, the welcome return to Gothic horror from Guillermo del Toro. Yet while there’s been little in the way of previews for CRIMSON PEAK, excluding a teaser that played exclusively at San Diego Comic Con, fans at large are finally getting a chance to see what lays inside the titular haunted estate as The Film Stage debuted the first image of Jessica Chastain from the film.

While this still alone doesn’t offer much, it does show just enough to get a feel for what del Toro is going for, with the horror feeling more ominous and consuming as opposed to in your face. Chastain definitely looks the part if del Toro’s intentions are as Gothic as hinted, with her pale skin, jet black hair and creepy dress feeling as if pulled from the words of Poe himself. And with the release of this still, chances are fans may get a peek at PEAK sooner rather than later, although the film is still has many months before it hits its October 16th release date.

For the unfamiliar, the synopsis is as follows:

In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author (Mia Wasikowska) is torn between love for her childhood friend (Charlie Hunnam) and the temptation of a mysterious outsider (Tom Hiddleston). Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds… and remembers.

Expect more from CRIMSON PEAK as it becomes available.
