First Look: SFX Master Gary Tunnicliffe’s “TEXAS CHAIN SAW” Short, “THE CHICKEN RUN”

Last week, FANTASTICA (by way of FANGORIA) revealed many never-before-seen behind-the-scenes pictures from MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D, including some spectacular SFX shots from the gore-filled flick. But as horror hounds know, that SFX was the work of none other than modern make-up master Gary Tunnicliffe, whose credits have included the likes of BLADE, CANDYMAN, SLEEPY HOLLOW, THE COLLECTOR, BENEATH, GONE GIRL and entries within the HALLOWEEN, HELLRAISER and SCREAM franchises. However, now Tunnicliffe himself has something he wants to share with horror fans: a TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE-inspired fan film, THE CHICKEN RUN!

Written, produced and directed by Tunnicliffe, THE CHICKEN RUN was produced for Las Vegas’ FRIGHT RUN last summer and has never been commercially released. In the vein of Tobe Hooper’s original TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE, Tunnicliffe teamed with producers Jason Egan and Vincent Palamino as well as Director of Photography Matt Renoir to emulate as much of the original film’s style as possible.

Starring Melanie Lastrina and Dave Mattey, and with SFX from Mike Regan and Dan Driscoll, you can check out THE CHICKEN RUN below. You can also learn more about the project at its official site here.
