First looks: Daniel Radcliffe as Igor, “THE STRAIN,” “THE GUEST”

This has been an exciting week for horror fans, as first peeks at upcoming horror projects from across the spectrum of entertainment have been pouring in.

Firstly, fans of FRANKENSTEIN will be relieved that early images (seen above and below) from the James McAvoy-starring adaptation have hit the web, finally showing Daniel Radcliffe as Igor, who is said to be the main character of this particular interpretation. Written by Max Landis and directed by Paul McGuigan, this FRANKENSTEIN (due January 16, 2015) offers an Igor who looks to be exponentially different from previous embodiments of the character, and definitely leans toward the Gothic horror influences of his previous horror genre outing, THE WOMAN IN BLACK.

Secondly, THE WALKING DEAD fans were treated to a mysterious teaser trailer during the midseason finale, which was later revealed to be the first preview for FX’s upcoming adaptation of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s THE STRAIN. Although the preview does not feature any of the principal cast or footage from the pilot, it does hint at a major plot point from the books and sets up how the project will be presented.

Lastly, YOU’RE NEXT fans learned yesterday that Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett’s follow-up feature THE GUEST will be premiering at 2014’s Sundance Film Festival, and lucky for them, soon followed the first pictures from the film, as well as the teaser poster! Starring Dan Stevens, Maika Monroe, Lance Reddick, Chase Williamson and Leland Orser, THE GUEST follows a grieving family who take a comrade of their recently fallen soldier son into their home, and soon find themselves in great danger when he proves to not be who he seems. Wingard and Barrett have described the film closer in line to films like THE TERMINATOR than strictly horror, so it should be fun to see what the duo can craft outside their comfort zone.

Which one of these projects are you most excited for? Let us know, and keep an eye here for more horror first looks!
