Do you believe in ghosts, ghouls and things that go bump in the night? We here at the FANGORIA Vault sure do, considering we’re cleaning up their mess every morning. And while fishing through myriad piles of discarded papers and photos every day can be tiring, we do find certain treasures among the trash from time to time. This morning is one of those times, of course, as FANGORIA has stumbled on some excellent stills and artwork from the landmark horror series KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER!

Starring Darren McGavin as the titular supernatural journalist, this series created and largely written by Jeff Rice stood next to DARK SHADOWS as a precursor for modern horror television. Injecting terror, comedy and mystery into the story of an overly ambitious reporter, KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER pit Carl Kolchak against various oddities and evil beings all in the name of the truth. And while the series was short-lived, two Dan Curtis-produced made-for-TV movies were spawned in its wake, and the show is cited as an influence for many horror projects and filmmakers, including Robert Zemeckis and David Chase (who both got their start as writers on THE NIGHT STALKER).

You can check out the stills, promos and artwork for KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER below, and if you haven’t given the show a look, do so immediately!
