As FANGORIA readers know, home is where the heart is. Whether it’s beating or not is another question entirely, but that doesn’t stop us from returning time and time again to haunted-house films. Today, FANGORIA offers a couple of rare stills from one of the most influential horror-home films of all time: 1979’s THE AMITYVILLE HORROR!

Even now, the look of that house gives us the creeps. The excellent art direction and fascinating character work overcome the story’s cheesier elements, and the film holds up well even today. There’s a certain level of unpredictability that allows the film to exert a brutal grip on its audience, so when the forces of evil arise, we’re along the ride for every sharp turn it takes. Check out the photos below from the seminal scare classic, only here at FANGORIA!
