Full details: Irish creepfest “THE HALLOW” on Scream Factory Blu-ray/DVD

The creatures of Irish mythology come to frightening life in THE HALLOW, which had an acclaimed festival/theatrical run last year and comes to disc this spring. Read on for the complete info and cover art.

Shout! Factory releases THE HALLOW on Blu-ray and DVD April 5 on its Scream Factory line, in conjunction with IFC Midnight. Directed by Corin Hardy (who discussed the movie here) from a script he wrote with Felipe Marino, the movie sports an unnerving array of practical creature FX overseen by John Nolan. The synopsis: “When a London-based conservationist [Joseph Mawle] is sent to Ireland with his wife [Bojana Novakovic] and infant child to survey an area of forest believed to be hallowed ground by superstitious locals, his actions unwittingly disturb a horde of demonic creatures who prey upon the lost. Alone and deep within the darkness of the remote wilderness, he must now fight back to protect his family against the ancient forces’ relentless attacks.” The discs will present the movie (which we review here) in 2.35:1 widescreen and will be fully loaded with bonus features, including:

• Audio commentary by director Corin Hardy
• “Surviving the Fairytale: The Making of THE HALLOW”
• “Behind-the-Scenes: The Story”
• “Behind-the-Scenes: Influence”
• “Behind-the-Scenes: Practical F/X”
• Director’s storyboards gallery
• Director’s sketchbook gallery
• The Book of Invasions original illustrations gallery
• Creature concepts gallery
• Theatrical trailer

Retail prices are $22.97 for the Blu-ray, $14.98 for the DVD, but they can be pre-ordered for $16.97 and $13.98 respectively at the Shout! Factory website.
