Full Scream Factory Blu-ray/DVD specs: remarkable new zombie film “THE BATTERY”

Low-budget undead opuses are everywhere you look these days, but one fully worthy of your attention is THE BATTERY, coming in September to Blu-ray and DVD. Read on for the full details.

Shout! Factory releases THE BATTERY on disc under its Scream Factory banner on September 16. Writer/director Jeremy Gardner also co-stars in the movie with Adam Cronheim, Niels Boole, Alana O’Brien, Jamie Pantanella, Larry Fessenden and Kelly McQuade; Gardner and Cronheim play Ben and Mickey, friends and former baseball players making their way across a New England ravaged by a zombie plague. But rather than devote itself to the usual undead skirmishes (though there are plenty of those too), the film focuses on the ebb and flow of their friendship as they deal with a world that no longer belongs to the living, delivering thrills and character-based laughs—and a unique and memorable final act. The discs will present the movie in 2.35:1 widescreen (1080p high definition on the Blu-ray), accompanied by these special features:

• Audio commentary by Gardner, Cronheim and co-producer/director of photography Christian Stella
• “Tools of Ignorance: The Making of THE BATTERY”—90-minute documentary
• “Rock Plaza Central at the Parlor: The Music of THE BATTERY”
• Outtakes
• Theatrical trailer

Retail prices are $14.97 for the DVD, $19.97 for the Blu-ray. See our rave for THE BATTERY here.
