Full Trailer: Not a haunting, not a possession, but “THE CONJURING”

After a mannered, frightening teaser revealed an early, well constructed suspenseful sequence, the full trailer for James Wan’s upcoming THE CONJURING more closely resembles the flash and bang of contemporary previews.

It’s still highly effective, however. If INSIDIOUS was a warm-up, THE CONJURING could be something special. This past weekend at WonderCon  revealed the production shot for a PG-13, but when met with an R, were told there’s nothing they can do as the movie is just “too scary.” Of course, scary is relative as well as subjective, but I know supernatural aggression gives me shivers and a lot of it is brewing here.

Based on real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warrren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), THE CONJURING finds the couple coming to the aid of a family in a secluded farmhouse under attack from a violent spirit Farmiga simply calls “so hateful.”

THE CONJURING is out July 19, 2013.
