Gunnar Hansen dons Leatherface’s mask for NC’s Mad Monster Party; video promo

It’s been over 40 years since Gunnar Hansen wore the stitched-face disguise that terrorize his victims and audiences in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. Now he’s putting it back on for the first time for photo ops at this month’s Mad Monster Party convention—and he’s not alone.

Mad Monster Party, which takes place March 27-29 at Charlotte, NC’s Sheraton Charlotte Hotel (555 South McDowell Street), will be offering three opportunities for fans to get snapped with attending celebrities as the characters that made them famous. Hansen will be getting into full Leatherface garb (see his promotional video below), Sid Haig will adopt the Captain Spaulding visage from THE DEVIL’S REJECTS and HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and Stephen Geoffreys will be transformed into FRIGHT NIGHT’s Evil Ed by none other than original makeup artist Steve Johnson, for separate photo ops.

Other guests include SAW franchise villain Tobin Bell, HELLRAISER and NIGHTBREED’s Doug Bradley, Geoffreys’ FRIGHT NIGHT co-stars Chris Sarandon, William Ragsdale, Amanda Bearse, Jonathan Stark and Art Evans, Haig’s REJECTS cohorts William Forsythe, Steve Railsback and Danny Trejo, FX legend Tom Savini, TEXAS CHAINSAW 2 Leatherface Bill Johnson, THE CRAZIES’ Lynn Lowry, KISS’ Peter Criss and, outside the scare realm, BATMAN’s Adam West and Burt Ward. Head over to the convention’s official website for further details and to order tickets.
