“HAUNTING…” sequel “THE EXORCISM OF MOLLY HARTLEY” gets rolling for “I SPIT” director

Betcha didn’t expect a sequel to the 2008 teen-horror flick THE HAUNTING OF MOLLY HARTLEY (pictured), but one just started rolling in the wilds of Winnipeg, Canada.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, which presumably did well with HAUNTING’s disc release, began production today on THE EXORCISM OF MOLLY HARTLEY. Steven R. Monroe, whose many horror credits include the two recent I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE films, is directing from a script by Matt Venne, who also penned FRIGHT NIGHT 2, WHITE NOISE 2: THE LIGHT and the televersion of Stephen King’s BAG OF BONES. The follow-up stars WOLFCOP’s Sarah Lind as a now grown-up Molly Hartley, who becomes possessed by a devilish spirit that must be exorcized by a fallen priest. The cast also includes Devon Sawa of FINAL DESTINATION and IDLE HANDS, and Gina Holden of the third DESTINATION, SAW 3D, ALIENS VS. PREDATOR—REQUIEM and numerous other genre flicks. THE EXORCISM OF MOLLY HARTLEY is set for Fox Home Entertainment release on Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and digital HD next year.
