Horror/comedies invade NYC’s Friars Club Festival; win free tickets!

The 2013 Friars Club Comedy Film Festival begins next week on (when else?) April Fool’s Day, and as usual, a few features mixing fun and fright are part of the mix. Read on for details and to find out how to win free tickets!

The genre flicks at the Friars Club Fest are:

• The New York premiere of Jon Wright’s GRABBERS (pictured above), in which the residents of a small Irish town under attack by alien creatures discover that intoxication is the only defense, Thursday, April 4 at 9:15 p.m. at Anthology Film Archives (32 2nd Avenue)

• Ben Wheatley’s SIGHTSEERS, starring Steve Oram and Alice Lowe (who also scripted) as a couple who go on a murderous vacation across the UK, Friday, April 5 at 6:45 p.m. at the HBO Theater (1100 6th Avenue)

• The North American premiere of Guillermo Grillo’s THE NIGHT OF THE CHIHUAHUA, a bizarre variation on the werewolf genre (see trailer below), Friday, April 5 at 8:30 p.m. at the Dolby Screening Room (1350 6th Avenue)

We’ve got five pairs of tickets to each of these to give away; to enter to win, send an e-mail to FANGORIAScreening@gmail.com and be sure to put “Friars Club” in the subject line and include your full name and e-mail address. You can enter for any or all of the three screenings—but please, only for movies you definitely plan to attend if you win. Deadline for entries is 12 noon on Tuesday, April 2, and we will notify the winners by 5 p.m. that day via e-mail; tickets will be held at the venue box offices in their names. Good luck, and for more info on the Friars Club Fest, see the official website.
