IFC Midnight, Scream Factory team for “THE BABADOOK” Blu!

As fans of 2014’s most acclaimed horror film can tell you, you can’t get rid of THE BABADOOK. And come this April, you won’t want to, as IFC Midnight and specialty distributor Scream Factory are teaming to bring Jennifer Kent’s unforgettable fright flick to Blu-ray in a creepy pop-up collector’s set!

Bowing on April 14th, THE BABADOOK will hit on DVD, Blu-ray and Special Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, the latter of which features a pop-up slip case which replicates the cover of the book as well as one of Mister Babadook’s most frightening illustrations. But even better is that Scream Factory and IFC have teamed to bring a flurry of features to the impressive set, including Jennifer Kent’s short film MONSTER and Deleted Scenes that will be exclusive to the Special Collector’s Edition. Other features include Cast and Crew Interviews, featurettes on the stunts and SFX, a featurette on Mister Babadook with illustrator Alex Juhasz and a visual tour of the house set.

As this writer’s second-favorite film of 2014, THE BABADOOK deserves to get a badass home video treatment such as this, and hopefully will be discovered by more people with a release such as this. If you haven’t seen the film, you really should; the film has been lauded by the likes of William Friedkin and FANGORIA (TWICE!). But if you’ve already been caught under THE BABADOOK’s curse, you can pre-order the film directly from Scream Factory here.
