Jeremy Gillespie & Steven Kostanski’s “THE VOID” Commences Production, Announces Cast

For fans of the Astron-6 filmmaking collective, the word “serious” would be one most would consider outside of the entity’s vocabulary. However, coming off of the release of THE EDITOR, Astron-6 members Jeremy Gillespie & Steven Kostanski are teaming up for something much more straight-laced as their crowdfunded chiller THE VOID has officially begun filming according to executive producer Todd Brown over at Twitch Film. Furthermore, THE VOID has also announced its principal cast, featuring an impressive roster of genre vets and newcomers.

For those unfamiliar, here’s the official synopsis of THE VOID…

When a mutating horde of parasitic creatures threatens to breach an isolated hospital, a lone police officer and a group of hospital staff band together to fortify themselves within its walls. But as they prepare for the fight of their lives, they will discover the real terror is already inside.

With the film nearly two weeks already in production of its 20-day, Canada-based shoot, THE VOID has announced Kenneth Welsh (a/k/a TWIN PEAKS’ villain Windom Earle), Aarone Poole (COPPER), Ellen Wong (SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD), Stephanie Belding (WATCHMEN), Kathleen Munroe (SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD), Art Hindle (THE BROOD) and Daniel Fathers (PONTYPOOL) for its impressive ensemble cast. With the film looking to wrap before the year’s end, fright fans should expect to see more of the practical FX-driven film, including potential release and festival dates, in 2016. You can follow the progress on the film at their Facebook and Twitter pages, and be sure to check back at FANGORIA.com for more on THE VOID!
