Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves, More join Amirpour’s “BAD BATCH”


For lovers of international and art house horror, there was nary a 2015 title that was as breathtaking and bold as A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT, the Spectrevision title from up-and-coming auteur Ana Lily Amirpour. Of course, with such a unique artistic statement that was as stylish as it was captivating, Amirpour got noticed quick and by art film megaproducer Megan Ellison of all people. Now, with her second film, a dystopian love story featuring southbound cannibals called THE BAD BATCH, taking shape, Amirpour has secured one hell of a cast for her sophomore cinematic effort.

The film, co-produced by Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures and VICE, has just added Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves, Diego Luna and Suki Waterhouse to its cast, joining the previously announced Jason Momoa. Carrey, whose last genre effort was the notoriously divisive Joel Schumacher flick THE NUMBER 23, has signed on to play “The Hermit,” while Reeves adds his role as “The Dream” to his accumulating genre work, which includes Eli Roth’s KNOCK KNOCK and Nicolas Winding Refn’s THE NEON DEMON. Meanwhile, Waterhouse, Luna and Momoa have signed on to the roles of “Arlen,” “Jimmy” and “The Miami Man,” respectively.

While little is known about THE BAD BATCH outside of broad strokes, chances are with this cast, Amirpour may be making something as artistically striking as GIRL but with just the right pieces to bring some serious eyes to the project. Stay tuned for more on THE BAD BATCH as it comes to light…
