John Harrison writes/produces “RESIDUE,” with “THRONES” star

Having served as director on TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE, its namesake series and BOOK OF BLOOD, and composer on George A. Romero’s CREEPSHOW and DAY OF THE DEAD, among others, John Harrison is now the scripter and an executive producer on RESIDUE, a futuristic paranormal thriller that started shooting today.

Screen Daily reports that Alex Garcia Lopez is making his feature directorial debut on RESIDUE, following helming gigs on such British TV series as the sci-fi drama UTOPIA. Nigel Thomas is also executive-producing, with Charlotte Walls serving as producer and Natalia Tena (pictured above), who has appeared in four of the HARRY POTTER movies and as Osha on GAME OF THRONES, starring. The official synopsis: “Renowned photojournalist Jennifer Preston [is] investigating the aftermath of a freak explosion of unknown origin at the center of her hedonistic city. Known simply as ‘the Catastrophe,” this shocking tragedy has left behind a festering wound on the city’s psyche: a several-square-mile Quarantine Zone, known as the QZ, of evacuated buildings and abandoned streets. Nobody in, nobody out!

“With unexplained and increasingly bizarre acts of violence happening across the city, Jennifer begins to see strange ephemeral phantoms in her photographs. She soon becomes obsessed with the idea that a paranormal phenomenon has been unleashed. Jennifer’s investigations become a race against time to uncover the truth before her career, and eventually her own life, are in danger…”

The cast of RESIDUE, which will be shooting at Green Screen Studios and on location in Leeds, England, additionally includes Iwan Rheon (also from THRONES), Jamie Draven, Danny Webb, Brian Ferguson, Eleanor Matsuura, Franz Drameh and Adrian Schiller. “Alex Garcia and John Harrison have created a story-world that is utterly compelling,” Walls says, “and has attracted a really high caliber of exciting British talent on both sides of the camera.”
