Kevin Smith to Spin-Off Upcoming Horror, “TUSK” into “YOGA-HOSERS”

Though his Justin Long-starring body horror TUSK is still awaiting a wide release from A24, filmmaker Kevin Smith (CLERKS) is already planning to spin off two of the film’s minor characters into a feature of their own.

Talking TUSK with Screen Daily, Smith says that the proposed spin-off, YOGA-HOSERS, “sprang out of a podcast” (most of his upcoming projects do).

He continues, “There are two characters in a convenience store in TUSK that you see for five minutes, very much Ronsencrantz and Guildenstern. I’ve built a whole movie around them and I have brought one of the other characters from TUSK back.”

While there’s little idea what to expect—or if YOGA-HOSERS is in fact horror—Smith has found himself firmly entrenched in genre, with TUSK and the developing Krampus-themed anthology, ANTI-CLAUS. The former, expected this fall, follows a podcaster (Long) who finds and answers a bizarre classified ad from an eccentric hermit (Michael Parks), only to find himself victim to the hermit’s deranged desires. Haley Joel Osment and Genesis Rodriguez co-star.
