“LAKE PLACID” to resurface on Blu-ray as part of Shout! Factory’s “Summer of Fear”


The film that launched a cottage industry of cheesy direct-to-cable/DVD sequels is coming to Blu-ray for the first time, as part of Shout! Factory’s crowded horror slate this coming summer.

Shout! revealed on the Facebook page of its Scream Factory banner that LAKE PLACID, directed by FRIDAY THE 13TH PARTs 2 and III and HALLOWEEN: H20’s Steve Miner from a script by TV stalwart David E. Kelley, will hit hi-def disc later this year as a Collector’s Edition. Bill Pullman, Bridget Fonda, Oliver Platt, Brendan Gleeson, Betty White and a giant crocodile created by Stan Winston Studio star; special features and cover art for the Blu-ray have yet to be unveiled, so stay tuned for those. The company’s “Summer of Fear” will be bursting with new discs of cult genre titles, also including EVILSPEAK and FINAL EXAM (out May 13), SLEEPAWAY CAMP (out May 27), DOG SOLDIERS (out June 24), RAVENOUS (out in June), GINGER SNAPS, PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, DEADLY EYES, HELLHOLE and Werner Herzog’s 1979 version of NOSFERATU—and still more, Shout! promises.
