Legendary’s “DEAD RISING” To Debut in March

While good adaptations of video game properties are more rare than a blizzard in Las Vegas, that doesn’t stop fans from approaching every attempt with cautious optimism. Case-in-point: Zach Lipovsky’s upcoming feature-length DEAD RISING adaptation, entitled DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER, which will debut on Crackle from Legendary Productions. And now, fans will know when to catch the series on the Sony-owned web network, as the NY Daily News reports WATCHTOWER will be available on March 27th.

Starring Jesse Metcalfe (THE TORTURED), Meghan Ory (DARK HOUSE), Virginia Madsen (CANDYMAN), Rob Riggle (21 JUMP STREET) and Dennis Haysbert (SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR), DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER is definitely going to be a project to watch. While Lipovsky’s LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS was not well-received, to say the least, his work as producer on AFFLICTED was too damn good to be ignored, and with a production team like Legendary behind him, hopefully Lipovsky will prove his directorial worth this time around. And with the DEAD RISING franchise being one of the more fun zombie-killing video game series, let’s hope Lipovsky and co. are willing to keep the fun and borderline insane nature of the game in their take rather than go the grim, bleak route of other zombie media.
