Lena Headey joins new Clive Barker movie; Vuckovic to direct

The latest feature based on one of Clive Barker’s BOOKS OF BLOOD stories will mark the latest starring turn by a horror/fantasy regular, and the feature debut of a rising directorial talent.

Variety reports that Lena Headey (pictured above) will topline JACQUELINE ESS, which goes into production late this year for Raven Banner Entertainment and Barker’s Seraphim Films. Jovanka Vuckovic, who helmed the shorts THE CAPTURED BIRD, SELF PORTRAIT and THE GUEST and is part of the upcoming anthology XX, will direct from a script she wrote with Christian Francis. The film, which we first reported on here, is based on Barker’s tale “Jacqueline Ess: Her Will and Testament” and is about a woman who can telekinetically alter the bodies of others.

“Lena Headey is a marvelous performer with an incredible presence,” says Barker, who will executive-produce with Mark Miller and Ben Meares. “As far as I’m concerned, there is no better choice of actress for the role of Jacqueline. Her beauty and authority will carry the day.” Headey, who will co-produce JACQUELINE ESS with Vuckovic, has been seen recently in GAME OF THRONES, THE PURGE and 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE.
