Malcolm McDowell Leads Rob Zombie’s “31”

Ever since appearing in Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN, Malcolm McDowell has become one of the director’s favorite collaborators, going lengths to bring McDowell back for HALLOWEEN II and featured the actor in his infamous CSI: MIAMI episode. And while budgetary and time constrictions led McDowell to not appear in THE LORDS OF SALEM, Zombie has recently confirmed that McDowell will be playing a major role in his upcoming film 31.

Joining recent additions Judy Geeson (THE EXECUTIONER) and David Ury (BREAKING BAD), McDowell will be playing “Father Murder”, the owner, operator and host of Murder World, the compound in which 31 takes place. Of course, McDowell as a baddie makes sense, but it will be the first time he’ll be playing Rob Zombie’s brand of maniac, and (at least for this writer) his presence in the film sweetens the pot beyond the film’s premise and concept art. The film begins shooting this month with E.G. Daily, Daniel Roebuck, Torsten Voges, and Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs also in tow; expect more on 31 soon!
