McConaughey ‘Tipped’ to take Flagg Role in “THE STAND”

Will tall man of no age Matthew McConaughey essay Stephen King’s iconic tall man of no age, Randall Flagg?

The Guardian is reporting McConaughey is “tipped” to play Flagg in director Josh Boone’s developing big screen iteration of King’s monumental tome, which is now set to be a mammoth adaptation in its own right, envisioned to span four films. Boone recently revealed such on Kevin Smith’s Hollywood Babble-on podcast, where he promised: “we’re going to do THE STAND at the highest level you can do it at, with a cast that’s going to blow people’s minds.” If official, McConaughey—seemingly perfect for THE STAND’s ultimate villain—would be the first step toward such an ensemble.

THE STAND of course is King’s post-apocalyptic tale of good and evil, as the two sides battle in the wake of a widespread epidemic. The supernatural Flagg, who the INTERSTELLAR and DAZED AND CONFUSED star would embody, leads the latter in the ruins of Las Vegas.
