MTV’s “SCREAM” pilot lands director and cast

Hoping that fans will SCREAM just as loud for a small-screen version of the feature-film franchise, MTV has set a director and lead actors for the series spinoff of the movies that jumpstarted the slasher genre.

Variety reports that Jamie Travis, who directed a number of well-received short films before making his feature debut with the comedy FOR A GOOD TIME, CALL… and previously did episodes of MTV’s FAKING IT, will helm the SCREAM pilot. Tapped for lead roles are up-and-coming young thesps Willa Fitzgerald, Amy Forsyth, John Karna, Carlson Young and Amadeus Serafini. “SCREAM has been one of our largest and most treasured franchises at Dimension and we are thrilled to embark on the next chapter and join forces with a network that we love,” says Bob Weinstein of Dimension Films. He and brother Harvey are executive producers on the series, along with the movies’ director Wes Craven and producers Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad; Jill Blotevogel, who was a producer and writer on the CBS slasher show HARPER’S ISLAND, is showrunner on the pilot.
