Neil Marshall takes the helm of “TROLL HUNTER” remake

The English-language redux of the Norwegian monster mash TROLL HUNTER has been stomping around a little while, and now has a top horror talent confirmed to direct.

Deadline reports that THE DESCENT and DOOMSDAY’s Neil Marshall will helm the $25-million TROLL HUNTER remake for 1492’s Christopher Columbus and Michael Barnathan, CJ Entertainment and the original’s producers John Jacobsen and Sveinung Golimo. Marshall will also rewrite Marc Haimes’ script, based on André Øvredal’s found-footage film about young documentarians discovering a hunter whose government-mandated job is to stop towering trolls from threatening mankind. Marshall’s been busy in TV of late, helming episodes of HBO’s GAME OF THRONES as well as the pilot for Starz and Michael Bay’s pirate series BLACK SAILS, which airs next year. A male star not associated with horror/fantasy is reportedly being sought to take lead of the new TROLL HUNTER.
