New Line is “CONJURING” up a sequel; new featurette

With all the amazing buzz surrounding this week’s release of THE CONJURING, New Line is going ahead with a follow-up film even before it officially opens on Friday. A new featurette promoting the movie also just hit the web.

Variety reports that thanks to strong test-screening results and reviews (including ours), New Line is anticipating a sleeper hit and proceeding with a CONJURING sequel. James Wan’s chiller is based on a true case investigated by paranormal researchers Ed and Lorraine Warren—played in the film by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga—and the studio is aiming to bring more of their adventures to the screen (fulfilling the promise of the movie’s original title, THE WARREN FILES). “We have Lorraine’s permission and support, and we are working on developing another film,” New Line president Toby Emmerich tells the site; a new featurette focusing on the Warrens has just been released, and can be viewed below.

“Horror is very much a part of the DNA of New Line—NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, FRIDAY THE 13TH, THE RITE and the FINAL DESTINATION films,” Emmerich continues. “This is as good a horror movie as we’ve ever made… We think it will have great playability.”
