New photos, exclusive comments on Mike Mendez’s “THE LAST HEIST”

When a film is called THE LAST HEIST, you expect it to have a lot of criminal plotting and gunplay, but when the director is BIG ASS SPIDER! and THE GRAVEDANCERS’ Mike Mendez, you know there will be a horrific twist to the tale. So it is on the currently lensing feature, about which we have exclusive actress comments and some pics past the jump.

LASTHEISTJACKSONNEWS1Camilla Jackson, whose credits include the PATRICK remake and who is also a FANGORIA contributor, gave us the word on the horrific side to this robbery saga. “It’s about a group of well-organized professional criminals who target a security vault in a bank—which happens to have a serial killer with a penchant for eyeballs inside,” says Jackson, who co-stars alongside Henry Rollins (pictured right with Mendez), Victoria Pratt, Torrance Coombs and HALLOWEEN and PROXY’s Kristina Klebe. “I play one of the criminals, and our gang is incredibly diverse. Kristina and I play two kick-ass women who aim to do things their way. It feels great to play such a strong female role. It took a bit of work to get me used to handling a machine gun, but I got there eventually!”

“We’ve been shooting in downtown LA, and people can expect lashings of guns and violence,” she continues. “Mike Mendez is a really relaxed director and an absolute pleasure to work with. We’re about halfway through filming, and look to be wrapped by late June.”

The pics seen here come courtesy of Mendez’s Facebook and Twitter. The busy filmmaker has the volcanic-spider opus LAVALANTULA premiering on Syfy in July, around the same time he starts shooting the demon-hunting-Dolph-Lundgren flick DON’T KILL IT in Alaska (see story here) and TALES OF HALLOWEEN, the anthology for which he helmed a segment, world-premieres at Montreal’s Fantasia.
