Longtime Fango contributor, International Horror Guild Award nominee and general lover of the macabre Carnell (pictured) has just unleashed his debut novel, NO FLESH SHALL BE SPARED. This “GLADIATOR meets DAWN OF THE DEAD”-esque horror/action epic aims to crush your skull and eat your guts…but in that dreamy way that the author often wrangles with his words.

Here’s the skinny on the synopsis:

“The novel is set in a near future where society has dealt with a global outbreak of the living dead and is finally starting to move on. As the world begins to pull itself back together, a new, highly lucrative international sport—zombie pit fighting—emerges, which, in a very short period of time, manages to surpass all previous sports revenue and attendance records. The World Gladiatorial Federation and The Undead Fight League have grown bigger and more influential than the NFL, NBA and Major League Baseball combined. From the League’s ratings and their fighters’ popularity, it is apparent that the living have not quite finished with the dead.

“A fighter, Cleese, is recruited and indoctrinated into this violent world where every match could be the fighter’s last. NO FLESH SHALL BE SPARED is the tale of Cleese’s rise to supremacy in the sport and the unanticipated fallout of that involvement. The Dead will fall. Friends will die. The question that arises is that of Cleese’s fate in the ensuing mayhem.”

“Carnell writes with the raw sense memory of a battered child and the brute muscularity of a bouncer in a bar fight. NO FLESH SHALL BE SPARED is scarred, scary, deeply disturbed and worth every bloody minute of it. You have to read this book. But you might need therapy later.”
