NY! Win free tickets to New York Asian Film Festival thrillers

,

The 2015 New York Asian Film Festival gets underway this Friday, and amidst its many and varied offerings are a number of trips to the cinematic dark side. Read on to find out how you can win tickets to them!

The festival, presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Subway Cinema, runs June 26-July 8 at the Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street) and July 9-11 at the SVA Theatre (333 West 23rd Street). We’ve got two pairs of tickets each to give away to the following shows:

• INSANITY (Sunday, June 28 at 4:30 p.m. at Walter Reade): Psychiatrist Chow Ming-Kit (Huang Xiaoming) is lured to the dark side of the mind by his patient, convicted murderer Fan Kwok-Sang (Lau Ching-Wan).

• VIOLATOR (Wednesday, July 8 at 10 p.m. at Walter Reade; pictured above): As a hurricane approaches Manila, the cops arrest a kid who claims to be possessed by the devil and lock him in the holding cells. Their station is cut off from the outside world, and they realize that what’s inside with them is pure evil.

• SOCIALPHOBIA (Saturday, July 4 at 4:15 p.m. at Walter Reade): A gaggle of Internet Tough Guys lead a cross-platform witch hunt to doxx a girl who just tweeted all the wrong things. And it’s all fun and games, until they walk in on a dead body.

• THE ISLE (Thursday, July 9 at 10 p.m. at the SVA Theatre): Controversial director Kim Ki-duk put Korean cinema on the map with this art-house exploitation shocker featuring fishhooks, sex, surreal cinematography and some of the most squirm-inducing shots ever put on film.

To enter to win tickets, send an e-mail to FANGORIAScreening@gmail.com, and be sure to put “Asian Festival” in the subject line and include your full name and e-mail address. You can enter for up to three screenings—but please, only for movies you definitely plan to attend if you win. Deadline for entries is noon this Friday, June 26, and we will notify the winners via e-mail that afternoon; tickets will be held at the box office in their names. Good luck; for the festival’s full lineup and more information, click here, and visit the fest’s Facebook page.
