It’s coming for you! FANGORIA will be hosting a free screening of IT FOLLOWS—the year’s most critically-praised fright film thus far—in New York City on Monday, March 9 at 7 p.m. This special showing will be held at the Cinema Village (22 East 12th Street, off University Place). Directed and written by David Robert Mitchell, the artful psychosexual chiller took the Cannes, Toronto, Fantastic Fest, AFI and Sundance film festivals by storm. IT FOLLOWS stars THE GUEST’s Maika Monroe, DARK SUMMER’s Keir Gilchrist, BENEATH’s Daniel Zovatto, ALTITUDE’s Jake Weary, Olivia Luccardi and Lili Sepe.
The Fango screening of IT FOLLOWS will be a free show; to obtain tickets, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. You must list “IT FOLLOWS” as your subject line and provide us your full name. Offer is good for you and one guest. Names will be checked at the door. Offer is first come, first served, and we will confirm your rsvp. Seating is not guaranteed, however. This exclusive event is presented by our pals at RADiUS, who will release IT FOLLOWS theatrically on March 13.
What’s IT FOLLOWS about? Per the official synopsis:
For 19-year-old Jay (Monroe), the fall should be about school, boys and weekends at the lake. Yet after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter she suddenly finds herself plagued by nightmarish visions; she can’t shake the sensation that someone, or something, is following her. As the threat closes in, Jay and her friends must somehow escape the horrors that are only a few steps behind.
IT FOLLOWS has critics raving:
“A must-see…nothing short of amazing!”—Rolling Stone
“IT FOLLOWS never lets you go…A masterful sense of paranoia hangs over the film.”—Dylan Griffin, Sound On Sight
“IT FOLLOWS is remarkably effective for most of its running time, ratcheting up the tension, then stinging the audience periodically with one of those jolts that sends everyone levitating a couple inches above their seats.”—Peter Debruge, VARIETY
And Fangoria.com’s own IT FOLLOWS review (see here) exclaimed: “You’d be hard pressed to find another contemporary indie genre film that hits as hard as it does.”
Watch your back New Yorkers, and mark your calendar to see IT FOLLOWS on March 9. Fango editor emeritus Tony Timpone will be hosting the show. Yet another great movie presented by FANGORIA!
