“RE-ANIMATOR: THE MUSICAL” Revived in L.A.

Director Stuart Gordon’s restaging of his classic RE-ANIMATOR into a rowdy musical garnered a ton of acclaim upon its initial west coast run, which followed to its New York City debut at the NY Musical Theater Festival in summer 2012. Now, one of the most spectacular horror stage productions in recent memory returns to Los Angeles’ Steve Allen Theater this October, with all manner of bodily fluid in tow.

Featuring a book by Gordon, Dennis Paoli and William J. Norris, as well as music and lyrics from Mark Nutter, RE-ANIMATOR: THE MUSICAL will run October 17-November 2, Fridays thru Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the Steve Allen Theater (4773 Hollywood Blvd.) with previews on October 10, 11 and 12. The production will see the return of star Graham Skipper (ALMOST HUMAN) as Herbert West, as well as Jesse Merlin as Dr. Carl Hill. The two co-star alongside newcomers Darren Ritchie, Jessica Howell and Ken Hudson Campbell.

RE-ANIMATOR: THE MUSICAL of course “tells the story of Herbert West, a brilliant young medical student who has created a glowing green serum that can bring the dead back to life. What should be a medical breakthrough results in hideous monstrosities and ghastly consequences.”

I cannot recommend this production enough. It is utterly hilarious and totally misbehaved in the liberal distribution of gross liquids. Tickets are only $20 in advance, and you can find them at Trepany House.
