RIP Tom Towles

Too soon after Robert Z’Dar’s passing comes word that another horror favorite, Tom Towles, has died.

Rob Zombie, who cast Towles in HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, THE DEVIL’S REJECTS, HALLOWEEN and the GRINDHOUSE faux trailer “Werewolf Women of the SS,” revealed the bad news on his Facebook page. The actor first broke out as Otis, the murderous partner-in-crime of Michael Rooker’s title character in John McNaughton’s HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER. McNaughton also cast Towles in his second horror feature, THE BORROWER; around the same time, Towles reincarnated the role of Harry Cooper in Tom Savini’s remake of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and appeared in Stuart Gordon’s THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM. His other genre credits include THE PROPHECY II, GROOM LAKE and BLOOD ON THE HIGHWAY. Details of Towles’ death aren’t available as of this posting; he was a welcome presence both on screen and at many horror conventions, and will be missed.
