“ROOM 237” Director to helm Horror Doc on Sleep Paralysis

There’s a certain, singular quality to the work of Rodney Ascher. If you’ve seen his very buzzed and entrancing ROOM 237 (the doc about SHINING theories) or the short, eerie THE S FROM HELL, you know this. The concept then, of Ascher specifically taking on a doc meant to make us as uncomfortable as horror fiction and focusing on sleep paralysis and ensuing demonic visions. Sign us up to get freaked out.

Screen Daily is reporting THE NIGHTMARE will come from producers Ross Dinerstein and Kevin Iwashina and see Ascher explore the subject, one which he has past experience with. Jamie Carmichael of Content, who’s handling sales on the film, says, “ROOM 237 was a mind-bendingly brilliant movie. Rodney has a piercing intellect and a unique cinematic vision for horror. We can’t wait to follow him down this new supernatural wormhole.”

ROOM 237 is currently available on Netflix Insant. You can see the great S FROM HELL, documenting peoples haunting experiences with the Screen Gems logo, below.
