Schwarzenegger in father-daughter zombie drama, “MAGGIE”

The long in-development and acclaimed zombie script MAGGIE is seeing some forward motion yet again, with an unlikely producer and star on board.

Action icon, one-liner extraordinaire and eternal badass* Arnold Schwarzenegger (THE TERMINATOR, TOTAL RECALL, LAST ACTION HERO) is a noted man of good taste. Supporting directors, genre and even helming an episode of TALES FROM THE CRYPT, it still feels unexpected (and kind of exciting) he’d turn his eye to the lauded MAGGIE.

A Black List script, the film is a smaller story that finds a the world already ravaged by the undead and a father attempting to care for his zombie daughter in the wake. The last potential incarnation had Chloë Grace Moretz and Paddy Considine set to star. Now, Variety is reporting Schwarzengger has joined as both a producer and actor in the father role.

Commercials director and graphic designer Henry Hobson remains in the director’s chair.

*Example: This photo was taken on the set of one of the spat of new films Schwarzenegger has out this year and next, and it might be the coolest he’s ever looked.
